Press Release Summary = The Fellowship of Christian Counselors is sponsoring a Conference on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Taylor University, Fort Wayne, called "The Role of the Holy Spirit in Counseling and Shepherding." Dr. Siang Yang Tan, a Professor of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, Graduate School of Psychology will be the conference keynote speaker.

Dr. Siang Yang Tan will be the conference keynote speaker. In three presentations, he will cover the crucial role of the Holy Spirit\'s ministry, including His power and spiritual gifts, truth, and fruit in effective Christian counseling. Implicit and explicit integration in Christian counseling will be described, with an emphasis on explicit integration that includes the use of prayer (including Inner Healing Prayer), the Scriptures, and referrals to church or parachurch groups. Ethical guidelines for the appropriate use of explicit integration in Christian counseling will also be provided.\"
Dr. Tan is a Professor of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, Graduate School of Psychology. He completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology at McGill University in 1980. He has a private practice through the Clinical Practice Plan of The Psychological Center, Graduate School of Psychology, Fuller Theological Seminary, including providing some pro bono services. Clients seen include those with phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, stress and burnout, anger control problems, marital and family problems, adjustment disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, epilepsy, pain, hypertension, and religious conflicts and issues.
From 1996, Dr. Tan has served as Senior Pastor and English Pastor, First Evangelical Church Glendale. He was ordained on Sept. 29, 1996. He originated in Singapore, and he is married with two grown children.
